Designer
A label canvas in the browser, with the printer's rules built in
The canvas shows the label at true proportions and draws barcodes from your real data, so what you see is what the printer will emit. No installs, no per-seat licences, and the whole team works from one library.
Text, barcodes, lines, boxes, images
Every element the two printer families draw natively. Logos are converted to printer-ready black and white and re-sampled from the original whenever you resize.
Real barcode previews
Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, Codabar, ITF, EAN-13/8, UPC-A/E, QR, Data Matrix, PDF417, MaxiCode, POSTNET. Invalid data shows as a warning before it reaches paper. Check digits are recalculated by the printer.
Anchors that survive change
Pin an element by its centre or its right edge and it stays centred or right-aligned however long the content gets. Align and distribute re-anchor rather than nudge, so screen and paper agree.
Millimetres, dots, points
Positions in millimetres, sizes in points, resolution 203, 300 or 600 dpi. Four label directions for rolls loaded sideways, a safe-area guide, direct thermal or transfer.
Version history on every save
The last 20 saves of each label, restorable in one click. If a colleague saved first you are told, and can overwrite or Save As.
A proper toolbar
Icon buttons, undo and redo, copy and paste, keyboard shortcuts, a grid, zoom to fit, and a status bar with the label's size and element count. Quick-help on every field whose value has a syntax.
Print Queue
Nothing prints until a person releases it
Printers run out, get the wrong media, or sit unattended. The queue separates creating a job from printing it, and records the whole life of every label.
Review and release
Open a job to see its data read-only and a preview of the exact label with that data in place. Pick the printer, release. Missing choices, design, copies or printer, are asked for and remembered.
Print all
When an ERP or EDI feed drops hundreds of jobs, release them all, oldest first, to a printer you choose or to each job's suggested printer. Progress bar, Stop button, and every job still gets its own history entry.
Cancel, restore, reprint
Cancel with confirmation, restore from history, reprint with a required reason. Reprints reuse the original data byte for byte.
Pick a design by eye
The design picker shows your folders, searches the library, and previews any label as it will print before it is chosen.
Queue by hand or from a file
Fill in a design's tags and queue one job, or upload a spreadsheet, filter, tick rows and queue each as its own job with per-row quantities.
Audited end to end
Received, printed, reprinted, failed, cancelled, restored: who, when, which printer, how many copies, the printer's reply, and why.
Data
Your product master, kept for you
Upload the spreadsheet once and it becomes a saved data source operators pick rows from, rather than a file someone has to find every morning.
Excel or CSV, up to 20,000 rows
Headers match tag names case-insensitively. A qty, quantity or copies column sets per-row copies.
Edit in place
Fix a price, add a row, delete rows, replace from a fresh export, or download the current table as CSV for bulk edits.
Per site or company-wide
A site's data is its own; head office data is available to every site. Every change is logged with who and when.
Printers and the Print Bridge
Your printers, both languages, network or USB
One design produces Honeywell Fingerprint or Zebra ZPL depending on the printer it is sent to. A small bridge on each printing PC carries the job the last metre; nothing leaves your network on the way.
Saved printers for the team
Name, connection, language, site and default, set up once by a Manager and used from the designer, the queue and the API.
Network by IP, USB by name
Network printers over TCP; USB printers through the driver Windows already has, so other programs keep printing to them too. Zebra and Honeywell can share one PC.
Windows service, macOS menu bar app
The bridge installs as a background service on Windows with a taskbar icon, and as a signed, notarised menu bar app on macOS that runs as a login agent. No window to keep open.
Printer replies captured
Honeywell printers answer every command; the reply is recorded in the job history, so a half-printed label names its own cause. A stuck parser is detected and cleared before each job.
Images embedded in the job
Logos travel inside the print job on both printer families. Nothing has to be loaded onto the printer beforehand.
Status where you need it
Green or red bridge status on the queue and in the print dialog, with the download one click away when a PC has no bridge yet.
Integrations
One POST from any system
No SDK, no middleware, no file drops. Your system sends the data it already has; the job appears in the right queue and waits for an operator.
Print API key
Generated by an Owner on the Team page, rotated or revoked any time. A flat JSON object: transactionId plus your fields. Every field becomes a tag; labelType, copies, printer and site are optional and asked for at release when absent. Re-sending an id updates the pending job; re-sending after it printed queues a replacement.
Supplier keys
For hubs: an ERP creates label requirements that other companies print. Map supplier codes to companies and label codes to your approved designs, pinned to a version, so a later edit never silently changes what suppliers print. Suppliers see only their jobs; you see all of them.
Print immediately, when you want to
With the Owner's opt-in, "release": true prints the job at once through the named printer's print station and returns Printed or Failed in the same response, with the printer's message. Anything needing a person, or an offline station, queues instead.
Status and cancellation
GET a transaction for its status and history; DELETE to cancel an unprinted job. Errors are JSON with a plain message.
curl -X POST https://YOUR-WORKSPACE-DOMAIN/api/print/jobs \
-H "X-Api-Key: lvk_…" \
-d '{
"transactionId": "ASN-10042",
"labelType": "Carton 4x2",
"copies": 3,
"site": "Whakatane",
"product": "Hoki Portions 1kg",
"batch": "B26000",
"bestBefore": "@date(+30d)",
"release": true
}'
Migration
Bring existing labels with you
Capture from BarTender, NiceLabel, Loftware
The Print Bridge poses as a printer. Print each format to it once and it lands in the designer as an editable label, tagged fields included. No file conversion.
Import from a photo
No software, no code, just the label itself. Photograph it, mark the corners, give its size. Barcodes are decoded exactly, text and layout are read, and the fields that change from label to label arrive as tags with the photographed value as preview. A draft to tidy in minutes, not an hour from scratch.
Paste ZPL or Fingerprint
Existing hand-written labels import from code, pasted or loaded from a file. The language is detected. Text, barcodes, boxes, lines and graphics come through; anything unsupported is listed.
Portable label files
Export any design as a self-describing .xld file and import it into another workspace, keep it as a backup, or send it to support.
Teams, sites and audit
The right people can do the right things
Four roles
Operators release jobs. Managers also set up printers and queue jobs. Admins also design. Owners also run the team, sites and API keys. Operators can be allowed to queue jobs without gaining anything else.
Sites
Head office designs once; each plant or store sees only its own queue, printers and data. API jobs route to a site by name and unknown names are rejected rather than misrouted. Printer licences are per site.
Invitations, not passwords
Invite by email with the role chosen up front. Pending invites can be revoked; removed people's past actions stay in the record.
Isolation by construction
Every query is scoped to your company at the database layer, not just in the screens. Partners and their customers only ever see their own slice.
An audit trail for QA
Prints, reprints, cancellations, restores, data edits, design saves and team changes, each with who and when. Owners see the company trail.
A manual and quick help
A complete user manual under Help, and an i beside every field whose value has a syntax, with examples and a link into the right chapter.
Versus desktop label software
What changes when the label software isn't installed on one PC
| Desktop label software | spooler | |
|---|---|---|
| Where designs live | Files on a PC or a share; versions by filename | One shared library with folders, a version history on every save, and a design picker with previews |
| Who can print | Whoever has the software and the file | Anyone with an Operator login and a browser, from a queue that shows the label before it prints |
| Data | Typed in, or wired to a database per PC | Tags filled from the API, spreadsheets, saved data or the queue; dates computed at print time |
| Integration | Automation add-ons, scripts, watched folders | One JSON POST, queued or printed immediately; supplier keys for many companies |
| Record of what printed | Usually none | Every job, release, reprint and reason, per company |
| Licensing and updates | Per seat, per version, per PC | Per workspace; the app updates itself; only the small bridge runs on the PC |
| Your existing formats | Locked in a proprietary file | Captured by printing them once, then editable |
